Swedish cluster partner presents results at conference in Hamburg
Over 200 waste management experts learnt about WASTECOSMART during this month’s ‘Hamburg TREND 2016’, a leading waste management conference in Germany.
Jonas Törnblom from Swedish cluster partner Envac Group spoke at the event, introducing conference-goers to the project and in particular the Optibag optical sorting system.
The Optibag system automatically separates different coloured refuse bags. This allows households to store all their bags in one container, meaning waste can be collected more regularly and efficiently.
The system has been piloted in the Amsterdam region as part of WASTECOSMART, as well as in Sweden, and the results of these tests were presented at the conference.
The biennial TREND conference brings together stakeholders from industry, public authorities and academia to share information and best practices in waste management.
