Resident inspired solutions in Sweden

Following up on a very successful workshop in Hammarby Sjöstad, the WASTECOSMART Swedish cluster is preparing a questionnaire for residents to help identify new services and technologies that could further encourage reuse, repair and recycling, and increase social cohesion, in the city. 

Interactive Reuse Centres Open in Budapest

Two centres for reuse and awareness-raising about waste have been launched at an opening ceremony in Budapest. The centres are the first of their kind in Hungary, and will combine the functions of a waste collection and reuse facility with additional space for public education actions. 

Circular economy jobs and growth in Ireland

Paul MacArtain from the Centre for Renewable Energy at Dundalk Institute of Technology in Ireland hosted a WASTECOSMART seminar to share the hands-on experiences of WASTECOSMART regions with sustainable waste management as well as best practices on how to reduce, re-use and recycle waste. 

Mumbai receives WASTECOSMART experts

Nine experts in waste management and decision support systems travelled to Mumbai, India to meet with key stakeholders in innovative waste management during the week of 1-5 February 2016. The timing proved to be excellent, with waste management increasingly seen as an opportunity for positive change by a growing group of academics, entrepreneurs and do-gooders in India.

Expert collaboration with South Africa

The WASTECOSMART consortium dispatched a delegation of 13 experts in waste management and decision support systems to South Africa to meet their counterparts from policy making, academia and practitioners in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town during the week of 2-6 November 2015.
